Lawn2Snow ("we", "our", "us") is operated by BSCANNED INC., a registered company in Alberta, Canada. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our mobile application ("App") and related services (collectively, the "Service").
This policy is designed to comply with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). By using the Service, you consent to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
Location Data Disclosure
This app collects and uses location data.
What we collect: Precise (GPS) and approximate location data while the app is open and in use (foreground only).
Why we collect it:
- To match customers with nearby lawn care and snow removal service providers
- To display available jobs on a map for service providers
- To calculate route distances and estimated arrival times
- To show your position during active service jobs
- To verify that service was provided at the correct address
When we collect it: Location is only accessed while the app is open and actively in use. We do NOT collect location data in the background when the app is closed or minimized.
How to control it: You can revoke location permission at any time via your device Settings > Apps > Lawn2Snow > Permissions. Disabling location will prevent job matching and map features from working.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Personal Information (Provided by You)
- Account information: Name, email address, phone number, and profile photo
- Address information: Service address for booking lawn care or snow removal
- Payment information: Payment method details processed through Square and Stripe (we do not store credit card numbers, CVVs, or full card details on our servers)
- Provider verification documents: Driver's licence, insurance certificates, and professional certifications (for service providers only)
- Communications: Messages sent through the in-app chat system
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Device information: Device model, operating system version, unique device identifiers, and app version
- Usage data: App interaction logs, feature usage, crash reports, and performance data
- Log data: IP address, browser type, access times, and referring URLs when visiting our website
1.3 Location Data
Our App collects location data to provide core functionality:
- Foreground location (precise): Used when the app is open and actively in use to match customers with nearby service providers, display available jobs on the map, calculate route distances and ETAs, and show your position during active jobs
- Foreground location (approximate): Used for general area-based service availability
We do NOT collect background location data. The App only accesses your location while the app is open and visible on your screen. Location tracking stops completely when you close or minimize the app.
1.4 Camera and Photos
The App requests camera access for the following purposes only:
- Before/after job photos: Service providers take photos to document completed work (e.g., lawn mowed, snow cleared). These photos are uploaded to our secure servers and shared with the customer as proof of service completion.
- Document verification: Providers may photograph identification and insurance documents for AI-assisted verification.
- Receipt scanning: Users may photograph receipts for automated data extraction.
- Profile photos: Users may optionally take or select a profile photo.
Photos are only captured when you actively choose to take them. The app does not access your camera or photo library without your explicit action.
2. App Permissions
The Lawn2Snow App requests the following Android permissions:

You can revoke any permission at any time through your device's Settings > Apps > Lawn2Snow > Permissions. Revoking location or camera permissions may limit certain features.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide, operate, and maintain our lawn care and snow removal marketplace
- To match customers with service providers in their geographic area
- To process bookings, scheduling, and facilitate payments through Square and Stripe
- To verify service provider identity, insurance, and qualifications using AI-assisted document verification
- To display job locations on maps and calculate travel routes
- To send service notifications, booking confirmations, and status updates
- To provide customer and provider support, including our AI chat assistant
- To process receipt scanning and automated data extraction
- To administer the lead incentive program
- To improve our Service through aggregated, anonymized analytics
- To detect and prevent fraud or abuse
4. AI and Automated Processing
Lawn2Snow uses artificial intelligence and automated systems for certain features:
- Document verification: AI-assisted review of identification and insurance documents submitted by Providers to verify authenticity and extract relevant information.
- Receipt scanning: Automated extraction of data from photographed receipts.
- Chat assistant: An AI-powered chatbot that helps answer common questions and provides customer support.

5. Data Sharing and Third-Party Services
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We share limited data with the following service providers who assist in operating our Service:

6. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data:
- All data transmitted between the App and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS
- Database access is protected by row-level security policies (Supabase RLS)
- Authentication is handled through secure phone verification and Google Sign-In (OAuth 2.0)
- Provider verification documents are stored in access-controlled storage buckets
- Payment data is processed by PCI-compliant payment processors (Square and Stripe) and never stored on our servers
- AI processing of documents occurs through secure, encrypted webhook connections
While we strive to protect your data, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Data Retention
- Active accounts: Data is retained for as long as your account is active
- Inactive accounts: Accounts inactive for 24 months may be flagged for deletion with advance notice
- Job records: Completed job records (including photos) are retained for 12 months for dispute resolution, then anonymized
- Verification documents: Provider identification and insurance documents are retained for the duration of the active account plus 6 months
- Chat messages: In-app messages are retained for 12 months after the associated booking is completed
- Deleted accounts: Upon account deletion request, all personal data is permanently removed within 30 days. Anonymized, aggregated data may be retained for analytics.
8. Your Rights Under PIPEDA and PIPA
Under Canadian privacy law, you have the right to:
- Access your personal data stored by us and receive a copy upon request
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
- Delete your account and all associated personal data
- Export your data in a portable format
- Withdraw consent for optional data processing at any time
- Opt out of marketing communications
- Revoke permissions (location, camera) through device settings
- Challenge compliance by filing a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta
- Request human review of automated decisions that significantly affect you

9. Account Deletion
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time through any of these methods:
Upon receiving your request, we will:
- Permanently delete your account, personal information, booking history, and uploaded photos within 30 days
- Cancel any pending bookings
- Remove your data from all third-party services where technically feasible
- Send you a confirmation email once deletion is complete
10. Children's Privacy
Our Service is not directed to children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that a child under 18 has provided us with personal data, we will take steps to delete that information immediately. 11. International Data Transfers
Our servers and service providers may be located outside of your province or country (including in the United States, where Supabase, Stripe, and Square operate infrastructure). By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of your data to Canada and other jurisdictions where our service providers operate.
Where data is transferred outside of Canada, we ensure that appropriate contractual and technical safeguards are in place to protect your information in accordance with PIPEDA requirements.
12. Cookies and Website Tracking
Our website (lawn2snow.ca) may use cookies and similar technologies for:
- Essential website functionality
- Remembering your preferences
- Understanding how visitors use our website (analytics)
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect website functionality.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by:
- Posting the updated policy on this page with a revised "Last updated" date
- Sending an in-app notification or email for significant changes
- Providing at least 14 days' notice before material changes take effect
Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
